Private Tour of Undiscovered Sfakia - Full Day Trip
|
Back to: Excursions
|
Duration: +/- 9 hours
This tour provides you with an opportunity to experience a deeper Crete untouched
by tourism in the southern coastal region of Chania. In just one day the tour
combines breathtaking nature, remote mountain villages and a crystal clear sea.
The adventure begins with a scenic drive in a private minibus to Sfakia, with views
of the Aradena Gorge, followed by a visit to an isolated village serving as a
real-life museum of Cretan architecture. From the last village, where the road ends,
the hike to the southern coast begins. Following an ancient mule track, winding
through the shade of a pine forest, we will hike down to a picturesque and isolated
cove with a 12th century Byzantine chapel. After a refreshing swim and an optional
snack at the beach’s canteen, a small private boat will take us to the port of Sfakia,
where the minibus awaits for the return to Chania. A challenging adventure well worth
the extra effort to escape the crowds and experience the real Crete!
Participants are encouraged to bring the following:
