- Full Day Trip

Back to: Excursions
|
Time: 07.15-19.30
Days: Monday, Wednesday, Friday
You will join our hiking group, departing early in the morning. An hour's drive through the
countryside and up to the White Mountains will take you to the plateau of Omalos, the starting
point of the 18km long Samaria Gorge. You have the option of entering the gorge and hiking
just a small portion with our guide, then heading back on your own following the same path
(a total walk of about an hour). Another option is to explore the plateau, enjoy the spectacular
views, take pictures and have a mountain tea before the mini bus drives you to the coastal
village of Sougia by the Libyan sea. Our stop in Omalos is about one and half hours.
Arriving in Sougia, you have the option of enjoying a relaxing day by the clear waters and the
waterfront cafes and tavernas or you could take a hike to the hidden archaeological site of
Lissos - 1hr 15min medium difficulty walk each way from Sougia (route notes and information
will be provided by the hiking group's guide). Our mini bus will depart from Sougia for the
return journey at 17.30pm, when the hikers will have arrived from the end of the Samaria Gorge.
Participants are encouraged to bring the following:
- Sneakers or light hiking shoes
- Backpack
- Light jacket for the first morning hours (only needed for 20 minutes!)
